Jazz, Jugglers and Klez Katz Featured at Seattle Center Winterfest 12/10-12

Seattle Center Winterfest presented by KOMO 4 TV continues its line-up of truly inspiring, enchanting and enriching seasonal offerings. Seattle's Best Jazz opens the weekend Friday night and Saturday morning. Mud Bay Jugglers take to the stage Saturday evening, and Klez Katz continues the entertainment Sunday afternoon with its own Klezmer-influenced arrangements. All performances are free and open to the public.

Winterfest also offers Saturday afternoon ice sculpting and fireside sing-alongs. The Winter Train and Village returns to Center House this year, along with Winterfest Ice Rink at Fisher Pavilion (skate rental charge).

Seattle's Best Jazz: this is a much anticipated Winterfest sensation that lives up to its name with the national award-winning Garfield High School Jazz Band led by the great Clarence Acox, with special guests Owuor Arunga, Carol Nielsson, and Daniel Quintero. Saturday's show features the Jazz Band performing seasonal and popular tunes. Dec. 10 - 11, Friday, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, 11 a.m.

Mud Bay Jugglers: these bearded, unabashed and exuberant risk takers entertain and amaze. Taking their name from Olympia's magical Mud Bay, the Jugglers's unique performance style combines seemingly impossible juggling with precise choreography, physical comedy, and theatrical flourishes. Like fine wine, their show has grown rich and full over the years. Saturday, Dec. 11, 7 p.m.

Klez Katz: performing the rich music of the Yiddish diaspora, Klez Katz brings to life a world of vibrant folk songs, theater music and Yiddish tunes - with a bit of Klezmer-influenced jazz tossed musically into the mix. Sunday, Dec. 12, 12:30 p.m.

Ice Sculpting: award-winning artists create seasonal sculptures. Watch while they work or stop by later to see the glistening result. Each Saturday, an ice master will carve a different design. Saturday, Dec. 11, 12 noon - 2 p.m., outside Fisher Pavilion.

Fireside Singing: share in warmth and music around the crackling flames of a bonfire. Folksingers lead passers-by in a mix of original, traditional and contemporary folk holiday songs as embers illuminate the night. Saturday, Dec. 11, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., outside Fisher Pavilion.
