FROST NIXON & More Set for Whidbey Island Center for the Arts this Summer

The Whidbey Island Center for the Arts has announced four events for this coming summer including the play FROST NIXON by Peter Morgan.

WICA Chamber Singers: Music of the 60's & 70's
Whidbey Island Center for the Arts Conservatory will transport you back across decades with "WICA Chamber Singers: Music of the 60's & 70's."

All ages are invited to the pre-show hors d'oeuvre benefit reception and special performance in Zech Hall starting at 6:00pm. "WICA Chamber Singers: Music of the 60's & 70's" is a special benefit for the WICA Chambers Singers with local favorite Keith Mack as emcee. Funds raised directly support tuition, operating costs, music, and performance opportunities in the communities of South Whidbey Island...and beyond.

The full concert follows the pre-show on the WICA main stage-where the talented WICA Chamber Singers will perform songs integral to the 60s and 70s. It's a unique era in music and cultural history and the Singers will pay homage with a capella versions of Beatles songs, Americana and jazz standards. Among the gems you can expect to hear: Age of Aquarius, Pink Panther, Peter Gunn, Shadow of your Smile, and the powerful Testament of Freedom, an adaptation of letters from Thomas Jefferson by Randall Thompson.

Sno-Isle Regional Library Panel Discussion

Issues That Matter-Marijuana I-502: Be an Informed Voter
Sno-Isle Libraries, Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation, and the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts do not support either side of the issue.

Before you mark your ballots in November, you have the opportunity to be informed on issues that matter through Sno-Isle Libraries. Voters can hear the pros and cons on the hot topic of marijuana reform Initiative 502 at an upcoming panel discussion. Panelists will include representatives from New Approach Washington, Washington Association for Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention
and No on I-502.

Audience members will have the opportunity to submit questions through a moderator. Both events are free and open to the public; first come, first seated.

These panel discussions are part of Sno-Isle Libraries' "Issues That Matter: Be an Informed Voter" series of programs that encourage important community conversations on high-profile, current event topics. "Issues That Matter" programs are made possible by the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation.

The Rural Characters
in concert

This year marks the Characters 10th Anniversary, and will feature the their favorite songs and shenanigans from over the years-with a few new numbers sprinkled in so no one gets too bored. Because it has been so hard for the guys to choose what songs to leave out, they are giving fair warning that you should plan on being up past bedtime, and your cheeks are going to hurt. Theater Series: Frost Nixon
