The LAKEWOOD PLAYHOUSE is proud to announce its 77th SEASON of SHOWS! It's a season filled with Laughter, Mystery, Literature, and Stories That Touch the Heart. This year includes FIVE PREMIERES that have never been seen at the Lakewood Playhouse! It also marks TWO SPECIAL ANNIVERSARIES! The 5th Season for Managing Artistic Director John Munn and the 50th Anniversary of the Very Building that we perform in! The Lakewood Playhouse Theatre TURNS 50 this year!

Here is the Phenomenal Line-Up for our Very Special 77th Season:

A FEW GOOD MEN by Aaron Sorkin (Last Seen at the Playhouse in 2003)

"You Can't Handle the Truth!"

September 11th through October 11th, 2015

This Broadway hit about the trial of two Marines for complicity in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay sizzles on stage. The Navy lawyer, a callow young man more interested in softball games than the case, expects a plea bargain and a cover up of what really happened. Prodded by a female member of his defense team, the lawyer eventually makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial.

THE COMEDY of ERRORS by William Shakespeare (A Lakewood Playhouse Premiere)

"A Merry Feast for All Ages!"

November 6th through November 29th

A good natured lampoon of techie hipster culture versus wheat-germy, bicycle riding, hippieish environs. Mix in lost twins, ID theft, feminist activists, eccentric new age spirit cleansers and a clueless politician and what do you get? An episode of Portlandia? No! It's William Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors. A fun house mirror reflection of life in the Northwest.

ARCADIA by Tom Stoppard (A Lakewood Playhouse Premier)

"The Past is Presence"

January 8th through January 31st, 2016

Arcadia moves back and forth between 1809 and the present at the elegant estate owned by the Coverly family. The 1809 scenes reveal a household in transition. As the Arcadian landscape is being transformed into picturesque Gothic gardens, complete with a hermitage, thirteen year-old Lady Thomasina and her tutor delve into intellectual and romantic issues. Present day scenes depict the Coverly descendants and two competing scholars who are researching a possible scandal at the estate in 1809 involving Lord Byron. This brilliant play moves smoothly between the centuries and explores the nature of truth and time, the difference between classical and romantic temperaments, and the disruptive influence of sex on our life orbits the attraction Newton left out.

DEATH OF A SALESMAN by Arthur Miller (A Lakewood Playhouse Premier)

"The Lakewood Playhouse Debut of an American Classic"

February 18th through March 14th, 2016

The story revolves around the last days of Willy Loman, a failing salesman, who cannot understand how he failed to win success and happiness. Through a series of tragic soul-searching revelations of the life he has lived with his wife, his sons, and his business associates, we discover how his quest for the "American Dream" kept him blind to the people who truly loved him. A thrilling work of deep and revealing beauty that remains one of the most profound classic dramas of the American theatre.

NOISES OFF by By Michael Frayn (a Lakewood Playhouse Premier)

"Comedy Turned Inside Out!"

April 16th through May 10th, 2016

Called the funniest farce ever written, Noises Off presents a manic menagerie as a cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called Nothing's On. Doors slamming, on and offstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.

AVENUE Q Music & Lyrics by Robert Lopez & Jeff Marx / Book by Jeff Whitty

(A Lakewood Playhouse Premiere)

"Sesame Street Has Grown Up & Moved to South Park!"

June 6th through July 3rd, 2016

Our 2015 / 2016 OUTSIDE OF THE BOX Presentation: Winner of the TONY "Triple Crown" for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, "Avenue Q" is part flesh, part felt, and packed with heart. The laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that although the residents seem nice, it's clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, "Avenue Q" is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere. Although the show addresses humorous adult issues, it is similar to a beloved children's show; a place where puppets are friends, Monsters are good and life lessons are learned.
