5th Avenue Theatre Cancels GIGI Concert Due to Scheduling Conflicts; Moves BALLROOM WITH A TWIST to August 2014

Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre was originally set to present a re-imagined concert version of Lerner and Loewe's Tony Award-winning musical GIGI this May, but the company has been forced to cancel the production due to internal scheduling conflicts. The musical has been announced for a Broadway opening in 2015.

5th Avenue has also announced new dates for BALLROOM WITH A TWIST, which will run August 15-17, 2014. Inspired by and featuring stars from hit TV shows Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, and So You Think You Can Dance, Ballroom with a Twist will have audiences dancing in the aisles.

Two performers have been announced so far for BALLROOM WITH A TWIST:

- Dancing with the Stars ballroom dancer Sharna Burgess, currently dancing with Charlie White on the hit TV Show. SHARNA BURGESS is currently a Pro dancer and lead choreographer on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, partnering with Olympic medalist Charlie White and on season 16 she competed with comedy actor Andy Dick. She was the lead dancer on the hit dance production, Burn the Floor, on Broadway, West End UK and multiple world tours. She has choreographed for artists such as, KISS, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Karmin, Sugarland, Cobra Starship and many more. She was also the lead Latin Choreographer on Street Dance 2, and co choreographed with Rich and Tone Talauega to create a fusion between hip hop afro cuban and salsa. She was an Australian champion at 15 and Australian representative to the World Latin Championships in 2001.

- Dancing with the Stars latin dancer Val Chmerkovskiy, currently partnered with Wonder Years star Danica McKellar. Valentin "Val" Chmerkovskiy has been a U.S. National Dance Champion 14 times in his remarkable 15-year career. After numerous guest appearances on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," Valentin continues to take center stage as a series regular professional dancer. He was paired with model Elisabetta Canalis on season 13, comedian and talk show host Sherri Shepherd on season 14, actress Kelly Monaco for season 15 (the all-stars season), Disney star Zendaya on season 16 (in which they placed 2nd), and Saved by the Bell's Elizabeth Berkley on season 17.

Finally, Lily Tomlin will return to the 5th Avenue stage this summer as planned for two performances only, presenting an array of her greatest hits, June 6-7, 2014. The show business legend played to packed houses in a limited engagement at The 5th in 2011.
