The New York Philharmonic is celebrating Star Wars Day by giving Star Wars fans who come to the David Geffen Hall Box Office early access to tickets for the Star Wars Film Concert Series on May 4, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., before tickets go on sale widely to the public online at noon. Fans who arrive by 9:30 a.m. will be entered in a raffle to win a pair of free tickets to the Star Wars concert of their choice. Three winners will be announced at 10:00 a.m. The first 20 Star Wars fans to arrive in costume will receive official Star Wars merchandise and collectible vinyl. In addition, fans waiting in line will be entertained by members of the New York Philharmonic's brass section performing music from the Star Wars movies, and will have a chance to meet R2D2, Kylo Ren, stormtroopers, and other Star Wars characters from costumed fan groups. Those planning to attend are encouraged to spread the word on social media using #nypstarwars.

Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra (PYAO) members, ages 12 to 18, will present its 22nd Annual Festival Concert on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, 300 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia. Conducted by Maestra Rosalind Erwin, the musical program will include Lee Hoiby's Overture to a Farce; Claude Debussy's Nuages et Fêtes from Noctunes; and George Gershwin's An American in Paris. The Concert will feature the Young Artists Solo Competition winner -- cellist, Danny Bishop, who will perform Camille Saint-Saëns Concerto for Violoncello in A minor.
Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble Concludes 10th Anniversary With TRADITIONS Concert

Before Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble (PSYWE) leaves on its first international tour in July, the talented young musicians conclude their milestone 10th anniversary season by paying homage to the band tradition, as well as the ensemble's history in the Pacific Symphony family. The Concert, “Traditions,” kicks off with Paul Basler's thrilling work, “Carnival,” followed by Johann Sebastian Bach's “Fervent is My Longing” (Chorale Prelude) and “Little” Fugue in G Minor. At the center are two cornerstone works for wind ensemble—Ralph Vaughan Williams' “English Folk Song Suite” and Gustav Holst's First Suite in E-flat—to celebrate the wind band culture's deep-rooted tradition. “Radetzky March” by Johann Strauss Sr. concludes The Concert on a victorious note.
