Art, History and Humanity Align in THE GUARD at City Theatre

Art, history, and humanity align in City Theatre's upcoming production of The Guard by Jessica Dickey. Directed by Artistic Director Tracy Brigden, the play will run March 11-April 2 on the Main Stage, continuing the 2016-17 season of new plays.

Jungle Theater's CONSTELLATIONS Opens 4/15

The Jungle's 26th Season continues with the regional premiere of CONSTELLATIONS by British playwright Nick Payne, starring Ivey Award-winning Anna Sundberg (Venus in Fur, Detroit) and Ron Menzel (Macbeth, Orson Welles Rehearses 'Moby Dick'). Gary Gisselman, who directed last summer's Jungle hit, You Can't Take It With You, is at the helm of this sophisticated, sexy two-character drama. Constellations opens April 15 and runs through May 29 at the Lyn-Lake neighborhood theater, 2951 Lyndale Ave. S. in Minneapolis.

Park Square continues its 41st season next month with Tom Mula's irreverent take on Charles Dickens's immortal tale, Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol. The redemption of the iconic curmudgeon Ebenezer Scrooge is well known, but whatever happened to his equally coldhearted business partner? Stuck in perdition for his vile misdeeds in life, Jacob Marley has one shot to redeem himself for eternity, aided by his own personal demon, who may turn out to be a faithful friend or a fiendish foe. Park Square Artistic Director Richard Cook directs Dane Stauffer* in this humorous and heartwarming tale of salvation and deliverance. Citybeat called the play 'delectably zany...inspired theatre...gives the audience cause to ache, and to laugh, and in the end, to exalt.'
Jungle Theater to Present Conor McPherson's THE NIGHT ALIVE, Opening Today

The Jungle closes its 25th Anniversary Season with the regional premiere of the latest work by Conor McPherson, lauded by The New York Times as "the finest playwright of his generation." Joel Sass will direct THE NIGHT ALIVE, his third turn with a McPherson play at the Jungle after critical and audience acclaim with Shining City (2007) and The Seafarer (2009). The Night Alive opens November 6 and will be on stage through December 20 at the Lyn-Lake neighborhood theater, 2951 Lyndale Ave. So. in Minneapolis.

World Premiere of INKED BABY, a new play by 2007 Susan Smith Blackburn nominee Christina Anderson in her Off-Broadway playwriting debut. INKED BABY began previews on Thursday, March 5 at 7:30 PM at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street). Directed by Kate Whoriskey (Fabulation at Playwrights Horizons, the current hit Ruined), INKED BABY will have its official opening on Monday, March 23 at 7:00 PM and continue through Sunday, April 5.
