Tron Theatre Company's first production of the 2016 season will be c*ckby Mike Bartlett, which will run for two weeks in Glasgow before touring to The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen (23 Feb) and the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh (25-27 Feb). This run will be the first presentation of Mike Bartlett's sharp and witty play since its Royal Court, London premiere six years ago.

John is having an identity crisis, sparked when his long term relationship with boyfriend (M) ends and he unexpectedly hooks up with a women (W), discovering in the process that he's not the man he thought he was. Wracked with guilt and indecision about who he is and what he wants from life, John ricochets between M and W, miring himself deeper and deeper in his quandary.

Devoid of set and props, the genius of Bartlett's play stems from the focus only on the dialogue, with biting, barbed exchanges and verbal sparring taking centre stage. Brilliantly portrayed by James Anthony Pearson, John is a man caught in a maelstrom of sexual and emotional confusion, as beleaguered by Johnny McKnight as M's sniping, as much as he is by the no-nonsense rationality of Isobel McArthur's W. The appearance of M's father, played by Vincent Friel at a disastrous dinner is the final straw for John as things (principally his life) hurtle out of control.
With its 'wounding authenticity' (London Evening Standard), c*ckis a brilliantly constructed study of one man's dilemma over love and life.

Running time: approx. 90 mins (no interval)
