Go Dance 14, the 7th annual festival celebrating excellence in community dance, returns to the Theatre Royal in a prime, new summer slot. As part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme, the week showcases an explosive array of thrilling new work from dance groups across Scotland and promises to be the ultimate dance event of the year.

With a different programme over five nights and more than 1,200 dancers of all ages performing on stage, Go Dance 14 is a wonderful celebration of the joy of dance in all its forms.

Creative Learning Manager, Alison Cowan, said: "You can't fail to feel the excitement that floods the Theatre Royal when the groups arrive for their performance. It's an incredible week that showcases the talent and creativity of people of all ages sharing and celebrating their love of dance, made extra special this year being part of Culture 2014".

The festival will open with The Gadlfy Project, a spectacular collaboration of six Glasgow based dance groups accompanied by a live 40 piece orchestra. The performance is coordinated by Dance House and part of the Get Scotland Dancing programme.

Langbank Primary School pupils are regular contributors to Go Dance, but this year the entire school is taking part. The children have helped choreograph their routine; Peace, Love and Happiness.

Go Dance 14 will present emerging choreographer Clark Wallace whose inspiration from the glamorous 1920s lifestyle and Fosse dance techniques is evident in his debut piece, Gimme That Swing!

Urbaniks Street Skool of Dance brings a hip hop flavour to the festival. Their performance is kicked off with the under 10s U-Crew, followed by The Honeys - choreographed by World Street Dance Champion, 14 year old Honey Joseph - and culminates with The Balloch Boys Crew.

Go Dance 14 celebrates an array of styles including ballet, belly dancing, contemporary, jazz and street. The Ayawara Ensemble capture the spirit of West Africa in their rhythmic piece named Calabash, accompanied by traditional percussionists.

Hosted by actor Alan McHugh, Go Dance 14 is the ultimate platform for Scotland's community dance talent with 50 groups showcasing their creative choreography and spectacular routines.
