Tell us a bit about Tilda's Magic Attic.

Tilda's Magic Attic is a one woman show about a grieving little girl who is moving house, leaving her magic attic behind. On the surface, it is a fun, energetic adventure story with fantastical twists and turns. At it's heart, it explores the difficult themes of loss and grief, capturing these ideas through the lens of childhood.

Who is it aimed at?

The show is aimed at 7-11 year olds and their families.

What sets it apart from other children's shows at the festival?

Tilda's Magic Attic is set to empower children to embrace the more difficult parts of life through magic and fun. Our audiences will not only be delighted and entertained, but will also come away having been a part of Tilda's emotional healing journey.

What's in it for adults?

The best family theatre awakens the inner child of all of its audience members - no matter how old they are! Our story literally invites the audience into the imaginative world of a grieving child, and explores the powerful bond between children and their parents. We think that any adults with children in their care have a lot to gain from watching our show, as it offers a window into how children may experience loss.

Tell us a little about your Production Company and the kind of work you plan to develop.

Button Tree Theatre believes that theatre for children should be nuanced and intelligent as well as entertaining and fun. Our strength lies in storytelling, and we want to tell new, original stories that are reflective of the issues young people face today. What we love about Tilda's Magic Attic is how it encourages children to explore their own identities and step outside of their comfort zones. This kind empowerment will be at the heart of all of our future work.
