Tell us a bit about Showstopper! The Improvised Musical.

It's a musical. It has everything you could possibly want from a musical. Sweeping songs, dazzling dance routines, characters to care about and gripping storylines. It just happens to be entirely made up on the spot from audience suggestions. And its very very funny.

Why bring it back to Edinburgh?

It started in Edinburgh ten years ago so we feel it belongs to Edinburgh. We love the Edinburgh audiences and they have been a big part of developing this show over the years from its humble origins in a 89 seat portacabin.

What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?

It won the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment and Family, 2016. The first improvised show in the world ever to win a major theatre award.

Is it ever possible to prepare for an improvised show?

Yes. You have to train in hundreds of different skills obsessively and work as a group as much as possible. How does a footballer prepare for a match? By training. But the match is improvised.

And you're doing a kids show too?

Yes! The Showstoppers' Kids Show is for families and kids. We only take suggestions from the kids though. And its utterly hilarious. They can get up and be part of the action too if they want
