Tell us a bit about Rhapsodes.

Adam Meggido and Sean McCann (from the Olivier and Chortle Award Winning Showstopper! The Improvised Musical) will attempt to improvise a Shakespearean masterpiece. Along the way we will dip in and out of as many writers and poets form the last 3,000 years as possible. And all the while we are competing against each other as only one of us can be crowned 'Rhapsode'. The audience decides.

Why bring it back to Edinburgh?

Only Edinburgh audiences love something as mad and as ambitious as this.

What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?

I'm not sure how many other shows will improvise 3,000 years of literary history. And as far as we know we are the only group in the world to improvise Shakespeare in actual iambic pentameter with all the wit, imagery and wordplay of the original!!!

Who would you recommend comes to see you?

Fans of Shakespeare, comedy and improv nerds, literary-buffs, poetry appreciators, those who like something a bit different, those who like their theatre to be full of risk and danger.

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?

I loved Peter And Bambi Heaven last year - I'll be back for that again. And of course my dear friends in the Glenda J Collective.

See Rhapsodes at the Pleasance Dome throughout the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 14th to 27th August. For tickets visit www.edfringe.com
