We speak to director Mathilde Lopez ahead of her run at the 2016 Edinburgh Festival Fringe with Yuri.

What can you tell us about Yuri?

Yuri is a cross between a French farce, The Price Is Right and Eurotrash. It is about infertility, nationalism, scrabble, supermarkets and sex.

What inspired you to choose this play?

This play was the only thing that made me laugh when I was struggling with infertility, it is profoundly scandalous, truthful, and pertinent emotionally and politically.

Who would you recommend comes to see Yuri?

Anyone who is struck by the absurdity of life. And outraged by it. So really, everyone.

Do you think you know what to expect from the Edinburgh Festival?

No, I am just thrilled to have access to a different and hopefully numerous audience.

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the Fringe?

I am currently in tech so I have great difficulty to think of anything else than opening the show but of course there will be plenty of shows to watch out for.

Timings and ticket information for Yuri are available on the edfringe website.
