BWW speaks to Danny Wainwright about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show Dracula.

Tell us a bit about your production of Dracula

This is an all-new, funny, fast-paced adaptation. We've kept the story basically the same, but not necessarily from the perspective you'd expect - so an audience will find plenty new about this Gothic classic. It's got five great actors playing loads of characters and a few twists and turns along the way.

What makes this production stand out?

It's a farcical comedy but at its core are some important and very present issues. We've turned the Dracula story somewhat on its head with some pretty unexpected and funny results!

This is your first time at the Fringe - do you think you know what to expect?

It's Let Them Call It Mischief's first time here, but this will be my 11th and most of the company have been up in various guises over the years. I think we'll all expect long days, longer nights, some unbelievably good shows and enjoying being a part of the biggest fringe festival in the world.

Who would you recommend comes to see Dracula?

I would really recommend Dracula to everyone from age eight to 108. There is truly something in it for everyone. Anyone who likes their theatre with a big dose of silliness will especially enjoy!

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch in Edinburgh?

There are so many shows I can't wait to see in Edinburgh. Too many to name them all but: Beasts' new show Mr Edinburgh 2016 is going to be something pretty special I think; Sh!t Theatre's Letters to Windsor House is one I will certainly be catching; and it's always great to see Young Pleasance, this year with Alice Unhinged. They brought me up to the Fringe in 2004 and they do some amazing stuff - not just great young people's theatre, but great theatre in its own right.
