As with most pantomimes, the story is a familiar one. Peter Pan takes Wendy and her brothers to Neverland and they embark on adventures filled with mermaids, fairies and pirates. 2014 marks 50 years of pantomime at the King's Theatre and the productions haven't lost any of their sparkle.

Peter Pan has everything you could want from a panto. The humour is sharp and there is plenty of fun for both children and adults. The usual "it's behind you" banter is ever present and this production contains a brand new audience chant - which might just be my all time favourite. However, I won't spoil it!

It is a lovely touch having the two comedy characters to play off of each other and Greg McHugh and Des Clarke make a fantastic team. McHugh plays Smee although he appears to be doing the role as his Gary Tank Commander character - which the audience absolutely love. Clarke is also excellent as Starkey and the pair of them just made my sides ache from laughing the entire time they were onstage.

The scenery is simple yet beautiful and the special effects are also quite understated. The little ones onstage are all fantastic as the Lost Boys and I would be hard pushed to find any fault with the show. I loved it from start to finish!

Peter Pan runs at the King's Theatre until January 11th.
