Rubican Theatre Company Announces New Slate of Fall Classes

This fall, Rubicon Theatre Company welcomes veteran Hollywood actor, writer and teacher Jeffrey Meek to teach the new Acting for Television and Film class. This exciting on-camera workshop gives students the opportunity to hone their skills specifically for the screen. Jeff has created a simple and proven approach to acting where beginners and seasoned performers receive a powerful support system to try new things or perfect material, regardless of style or period. Whether you are preparing a television audition or playing Shakespeare, Jeff is determined and qualified to lead every actor toward his or her highest potential.

In addition to this new class Rubicon will also offer acting classes taught by professional artists for ages 5 and up. These exciting process-oriented courses focus on developing performance skills for the stage, learning theatre terminology, building confidence and stage presence, learning proper vocal techniques, developing an awareness of body language through character work, and other methodologies through improvisation, scene study and theatre games. Nurturing, yet challenging these classes are limited in size to ensure individual attention and stage time. Beginners are welcome as well as those with more experience. Each class culminates in a final presentation of the student's work for family and friends.

Prices of classes range from $185-$350. Online registration is available at rubicontheatre.org. The deadline to register is September 22, 2013.

FALL CLASS SCHEDULE

NEW!! Acting for Television and Film (Ages 16+)
When: September 30 - November 18, 2013 6:00pm-9:00pm (8 Mondays)
Tuition: $350
Instructor: Jeff Meek

About the class: Tired of having to drive to LA for TV/Film training? Well, this new on-camera class offers TV/Film coaching from veteran Hollywood professional, Jeff Meek who is determined and prepared to lead you toward your highest goals as a screen actor. In addition to character analysis and scene work, students will gain a basic understanding of the entertainment business including the steps toward find a good agent/manager and how to creating an effective reel.

Acting (Ages 5-7)
When: September 28 - November 16, 2013, 10am - 11am (8 Saturdays)
Tuition: $185
Instructor: Joey Sponseller

About the class: A perfect introduction to the world of theatre! Students play imagination games and learn the elements of storytelling. This is an excellent class for young readers. On the last day of the workshop, family and friends are invited to a presentation of the students' work.

Acting (Ages 8-10)
When: September 28 - November 16, 2013, 11am - 12pm (8 Saturdays)
Tuition: $235
Instructor: Leslie Carson

About the class: This is an introductory class that exposes students to scripted scenes and monologues. Students will learn memorization techniques, stage presence, listening and working together with a scene partner as they work on contemporary scripted material. Preliminary exposure to acting is beneficial, but not necessary. This is an excellent class for young actors who are ready to take the next step. On the last day of the workshop, family and friends are invited to a presentation of the students' work.

Acting (Ages 11-13)
When: October 1 - November 19, 2013, 3pm - 5pm (8 Tuesdays)
Tuition: $285
Instructor: Leslie Carson

About the class: This fast-paced class is challenging and great fun. In a nurturing environment, students learn self-assurance while acquiring intermediate acting skills. Script analysis and character development are taught through monologue and scene work, as well as theatre games, voice and movement exercises and improvisation. Individual attention is given to each student and the class culminates in a final presentation for family and friends.

Acting (Ages 14-18)
When: September 30 - November 18, 2013, 3:30pm-5:30pm (8 Mondays).
Tuition: $285

About the class: This fast-paced class is challenging and great fun. In a nurturing environment, students learn self-assurance while acquiring intermediate acting skills. Script analysis and character development are taught through monologue and scene work as well as theatre games, voice and movement exercises and improvisation. Acting (Ages 19+)
When: October 1 - November 19, 2013, 6pm-9pm (8 Tuesdays)
Tuition: $310
Instructor: BrIan McDonald

About the class: Perfect for beginners and those more experienced. Students focus on script analysis, character development, memorization techniques and stage presence while learning how to free the voice and body for individual expression. Contemporary scenes and monologues are chosen by the instructor and based on each student's wants and desires. This is a fast-paced course culminating with a final presentation for family and friends.
