Sean O'Brien of San Rafael heads to a magical place this season for his featured role as Charlie Dalrymple in the Rohnert Park production of "Brigadoon."

In the role of the love-besotted bridegroom, O'Brien performs two of the show's most memorable show tunes - "Go Home to Bonnie Jean" and "Come to Me, Bend to Me."

Spreckels Theatre Company brings the rarely performed Broadway musical "Brigadoon" to its main stage this fall. The musical, with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, is presented Oct. 11 to Oct. 27, 2013 at Spreckels Performing Arts Center in Rohnert Park.

Gene Abravaya directs this beloved musical featuring a story about a mystical Scottish village which only appears one day every hundred years. "Brigadoon" is discovered by two American tourists which sets into motion a love story of mystery and adventure.

"I am very excited and proud to be a part of this 'Brigadoon' production at Spreckels Theatre Company," said O'Brien. "The ballad 'Come to Me, Bend to Me' is not really featured in the MGM film version of 'Brigadoon,' " so people many not be familiar with that song. I'm definitely looking forward to be able to perform that beautiful ballad for audiences. It one of the reasons that Charlie Dalrymple is such a great role."

O'Brien has appeared in countless productions on various Bay Area stages. Appearances include the Scarecrow in the North Bay Rep production of "The Wizard of Oz" and "For Whom the Bridge Tolls," presented at the Ross Valley Players in 2009.

O'Brien has also appeared in the 2011 Woodminster Summer Musical production of "My Fair Lady" and recent Mountain Play productions of "Man of La Mancha" "Guys and Dolls" and "The Music Man." Last summer he was featured in the Mountain Play production of "The Sound of the Music" in the role of Herr Zeller. O'Brien says favorite past roles include Lumiere in "Beauty in the Beast" and El Gallo in "The Fantasticks."

With rousing dance numbers and a soaring, spine-tingling score of memorable songs - "Brigadoon" is a rare, enchanting and memorable theatrical experience for all ages.

The Spreckles Theatre Company's "Brigadoon" production features the new Paradyne projection system, developed by Spreckels Performing Arts Center, combining still images and animations to create multiple backdrop effects.
