Ron Campbell, actor and current clown for touring troupe Cirque du Soleil, returns to the stage to reprise a role he starred in, in San Francisco. Accompanied by writer/director D.W. Jacobs, he sat down with us to talk about San Jose Rep's upcoming production of "R. Buckminster Fuller: THE HISTORY (and Mystery) OF THE UNIVERSE." Watch the interview below!

R. Buckminster Fuller will be portrayed onstage by Bay Area veteran actor and Cirque de Soleil performer Campbell, in R. Buckminster Fuller THE HISTORY (and Mystery) OF THE UNIVERSE at San Jose Repertory Theatre January 30 through February 23, 2014.

Written and directed by D. W. Jacobs, this multimedia production dazzles in its timeless insights into Bucky's life, ideas and his belief in the power of individual imagination to solve our biggest problems and make the world work for all of humanity. Ringing an urgent alarm at earth's "critical moment," Bucky's message resonates today as profoundly as it did decades ago. Hailed by Marshall McLuhan as 'the Leonardo da Vinci of our time,' Bucky successfully bridged the arts and sciences with his systems approach, innovative designs, insatiable curiosity and passionate call to save what he referred to as "Spaceship Earth."

Campbell's tour-de-force performance explores Bucky's life and work through comedic flair, revealing personal stories, philosophical riffs, poetry, dance and video. This adventurous play travels through Bucky's childhood in Massachusetts to his meeting with Albert Einstein and onto his breakthrough inventions - as it spins through myriad ideas and experiences that lead to exploring alternative ways of solving our most vexing problems.
