For the third selection in their 87th season, ROSS VALLEY PLAYERS is pleased to present the dramatic comedy Emilie: La Marquise du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight by Award winning playwright Lauren Gunderson (Lanford Wilson Award). A highly theatrical, fast, funny, sexy rediscovery of one of history's most intriguing women, Emilie defends her life and loves...and ends up with both a formula and a legacy that permeates history. Strong language, mild adult themes. Gunderson, a San Francisco-based playwright, is the second most-produced playwright of the 2016-17 season, and the most-produced living playwright in America.

Emilie: La Marquise du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight begins with a preview on Thursday, January 12th and runs through Sunday, February 5th. Opening night is Friday, January 13th at 8PM. www.rossvalleyplayers.com

Emilie du Châtelet was an 18th century French philosopher, mathematician, physicist, and the toast of the Age of Enlightenment. So why then is she not better known? Emilie: La Marquise du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight resurrects this fascinating personality. Brought back from the dead, Emilie is determined to answer the questions that haunted her dying moments on Earth: Was I right? Was I loved? As she travels back in time to revisit key moments in her scientific and emotional journeys, the full extent of her remarkably prescient legacy is revealed in this smart, surprising and sexy portrait of a true genius.
