Berkeley Repertory Theatre's production of Argonautika sets sail in its West Coast premiere on November 2; officially opening on November 7, and runs through December 16 at Berkeley Rep's Roda Theatre (2015 Addison Street).

Argonautika is based on "The Voyage of Jason and the Argonauts" – and is the latest hit from the creator of Metamorphoses and The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci. "Zimmerman joins Jason on his ancient quest for the Golden Fleece – a journey of love and loss, hubris and honor, danger and adventure. Jason confronts giants, kings, sirens, nymphs, centaurs, sea monsters, and one treacherously heartsick sorceress. In her latest perilous voyage, Zimmerman shows us that love is the bane of all mankind – and yet it's all that we know of heaven on this earth," explain press notes.

Argonautika made its world premiere at Lookingglass Theatre Company, and enjoys its West Coast debut at Berkeley Rep. A co-production with the McCarter Theatre Center and The Shakespeare Theatre Company, Argonautika will travel to Princeton and Washington, DC in 2008.

The cast includes Justin Blanchard (Hylas/Dymas), Allen Gilmore (Pelias/ensemble), Sofia Jean Gomez (Athena), Casey Jackson (Pollux/ensemble), Christ Kipiniak (Castor/ensemble), Tessa Klein (Aphrodite/ensemble), Ronete Levenson (Andromeda/Eros), Atley Loughridge (Medea), Andy Murray (Meleager/ensemble), Soren Oliver (Hercules/ensemble), Jesse J. Perez (Idmon/ensemble), Christa Scott-Reed (Hera/ensemble), Paul Oakley Stovall (Amyeus/ensemble) and Jake Suffian (Jason).

Tickets start as low as $27 – with discounts available for students, seniors, and anyone under 30.  For tickets or information, call 510-647-2949 or 888-4-BRT-Tix (toll-free) or visit www.berkeleyrep.org.
