It was announced today that Gary and Marcia Nelson of the Nelson Family of Companies are making a contribution that will make Nelson the first ever Presenting Sponsor for the Transcendence Theatre Company (TTC) and their upcoming 2014 summer season.

This contribution represents the largest single contribution for TTC since they began presenting their summer concert series Broadway Under the Stars In Jack London State Park in 2012.

Said TTC Artistic Director, Amy Miller, "We are grateful beyond comprehension to the Nelson Family and overjoyed that we share similar values as individuals and organizations. Nelson's commitment to the arts, education and health perfectly align with TTC and we look forward to growing these priorities together. This a great gift to the community, the park, and our children, and it will help us to deepen our mission of creating moments of Transcendence both onstage and off."

"We are thrilled to sponsor the Transcendence Theatre Company," stated Gary Nelson. "This organization makes a major impact on our community in its support of the arts, Jack London State Park, and the students of Sonoma Valley. Nelson has a long history of supporting the arts and education and this sponsorship is a natural and tangible extension of our company's values."

Gary and Marcia Nelson have long been supporters of the arts, education and health, including their recent historic $3 million gift to the Sonoma Valley Hospital.

Transcendence Theatre Company's concert series Broadway Under the Stars in Jack London State Park recently garnered some prestigious accolades in 2013, including the Broadway World San Francisco Award for "Theater of the Year," as well as "Best Production for Youth," "Best Choreographer," and a second consecutive win for "Best Special Theater Event" (2012 & 2013). Broadway World is the world's largest internet theatre website and the organization honors the theatrical arts in many communities across the U.S.

In addition to the awards, the 2013 season was a significant success for Transcendence as it attracted over 11,000 attendees and raised over $40,000 for Jack London State Historic Park.

While the performers for the 2014 season have yet to be announced, the 2013 season featured performers who have performed on Broadway in Mamma Mia, Les Miserables, Chicago, La Cage Aux Folles, Gypsy, Hairspray, Follies, White Christmas, Million Dollar Quartet, Mary Poppins and many more.

The 2014 Broadway Under the Stars concert series, playing June 27 through September 6, will include four separate themed concerts, totaling 16 nights of performances, wine tasting, and pre-event picnics in the park. 2014 will also mark the second year of TTC's Transcendence Artist Series, a collection of one-night concerts in intimate locations throughout Sonoma. All events begin with the picnic at 5:00 p.m., with food and wine for sale from various vendors on site, with a 7:30 p.m. curtain.

Nelson Family of Companies will be leading an ever-growing list of sponsors and partners in 2014 that include Benziger Family Winery, Sonoma Index Tribune, Chateau St. Jean, Sotheby's International Realty, Beau Wine Tours, Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, Whole Foods Sonoma, The Girl & The Fig, El Pueblo Inn, Classic Party Rentals, JDH Wealth Management LLC, Parkpoint Health Clubs, The Dance Center Santa Rosa, the Valley Of The Moon Natural History Association, Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley, Friedman's Home Improvements, Jack London State Park, Magical Massage, Olive and the Vine, Sonoma County Marketing Grant, BWise and Highway 12, as well as over 21 nightly wine sponsors and over 23 pouring partner wineries.
