Lucky Penny Productions announces its first annual "Lucky Shorts" original short story festival. Submissions are now being accepted under the follow guidelines:

  1. Stories must relate to the theme of change/growth in the broadest sense. Personal growth fits the theme, as do changes wrought by an altered relationship, new car, different job or travel. Humor is always welcome.
  2. Writers must reside in Napa, Sonoma, or Solano Counties.
  3. There is no entry fee.
  4. Entries are limited to original work, previously unpublished, which can be read in 10 or fewer minutes.
  5. Entries must be double spaced, in at least 12 pt. size font.
  6. Stories must be typed/word-processed, pages numbered, and stapled. Do not use binders or covers.
  7. Name of author must not appear on manuscript. Submit 1 copy of story, include a cover sheet with title of your story, your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
  8. Submission implies consent to have your story read at Lucky Penny Productions on June 12, 2016. Authors retain all rights to their work for future production or publication.
  9. Entries must be postmarked by April 15, 2016.
  10. Authors of chosen stories will be notified by May 23, 2016.
  11. Stories cannot be returned. Lucky Penny Productions assumes no responsibility for lost or damaged submissions.
  12. Winners may audition (at a date and time selected by Lucky Penny Productions) to read their own work at the Lucky Penny reading on June 12, 2016, or have their work read by a Lucky Penny actor.

Mail submissions to:

Lucky Penny Productions, 1357 Foster Road, Napa, 94558. Attn: Lucky Shorts

Eight winning short stories will be selected by judges chosen by Lucky Penny Productions in a blind reading. Decisions of the judges are final. No submissions will be returned.

Selected stories will be read in front of a live audience at the Lucky Penny Community Arts Center on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 2 PM. Audience tickets will be available soon at www.luckypennynapa.com or by calling 707-266-6305
