Cabaret singer and musical comedy star Julie Wilson brings her show to The Rrazz Room at The Hotel Nikko, 222 Mason, San Francisco CA.. She will be joined by Steven Brinberg, the writer and star of Simply Barbara, his show about Barbra Streisand. The shows run September 1-6, with shows Sept 1-4 at 8 PM, Sept 5 at 9 PM., and Sunday, Sept 6 at 7 PM. Tickets are $35-40 and can be purchased at www.therrazzroom.com or directly through ticketweb.com or at 866 468 3399. This is Julie Wilson's first appearance at the Rrazz Room.

Julie Wilson became a musical comedy icon during the 1950's, fine-tuning her stagecraft in shows like Kiss Me Kate. While living in London, she appeared in South Pacific and Bells Are Ringing, and she enrolled in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Julie returned to Broadway in 1955, appearing in Kismet, and then touring in shows such as Show Boat, Panama Hattie, Silk Stockings, and Hi Fidelity. Julie made several recordings, and appeared in several movies, including The Strange One, and This Could be The Night. But her niche, and her reputation, was in the clubs - the glamorous, romantic rooms of the 'Fifties. There she reigned in the finest rooms in the finest hotels. And there she sang the naughty, torchy, gutsy songs she loved.

Steven Brinberg writes and stars as Simply Barbra, an ever-evolving tribute to the life and recordings of one of the most recognizable voices of our time. As an Australian critic wrote last month, "... Brinberg knows his subject extremely well, satirizing her vocal abilities and dominant personality to great effect. However, it is the subtle mannerisms and constant asides, so cleverly executed, that leave their mark." The show's highlights include some of Barbra's most famous hits such as Don't Rain on My Parade, Evergreen, The Way He Makes Me Feel, and Memories.
