High School in the Spotlight: Gunn High School, CA
BroadwayWorld's High School Center is proud to showcase high school performance programs around the country in our weekly feature of 'High School in the Spotlight'.
This week, we head to Palo Alto, California, to check out the Gunn High School Theatre Department! Read up on the program and watch below for a promo video of 'You Can't Take It With You' performed during the 2011 season.
The theatre curriculum is composed of a comprehensive, four year sequence of theatre courses, an interdisciplinary class (with English department) "Shakespeare in Performance" and a one year stage tech class. Classroom and curriculum enrichment includes guest lecturers, field trips, visiting theatre professionals and workshops such as the Young Playwrights Project.
Gunn students stage three major productions, Fall, Spring and One Acts each year, and occasional staged readings.
Stage auditions and tech/ crew roles are open to all Gunn students. Subscribe to our "Cast" and / or "Crew" announcements list to receive up to date information on the latest opportunities regarding shows.
