Cutting Ball Theater, a nationally-recognized San Francisco not-for-profit organization specializing in the development and production of experimental plays and re-visioned classics, announced today that Liz Olson has been named its new Managing and Producing Director. Olson is currently the Line Producer and General Manager at Tectonic Theater Project and will assume her full-time duties at Cutting Ball on October 10, 2016.

"Our hiring committee has taken quite a long time to search for exactly the right person to bring into the Cutting Ball family. Liz has worked in the New York area for nearly a decade and the range of her skills is very rare." said Paige Rogers, Cutting Ball's Artistic Director. "I believe that Liz's leadership will truly raise the bar for us, in the Bay Area and nationally as well. Hopefully, with Liz's guidance, Cutting Ball may soon have an international presence. I am counting the days until we begin working with her in October."

"I am so excited to be joining the team at Cutting Ball Theater," Olson said. "Paige, their staff, and their Board bring so much passion to the work of the company. Ever since my first call with Paige I have been blown away by Cutting Ball's work and can't wait to help them continue to grow and deepen their ties with the Tenderloin community and the San Francisco arts community as a whole."

Olson received her MBA in Public and Nonprofit Management from Boston University. Previously, she was the Producing Director of Studio 42, where she produced Ken Urban's Wasps and worked on productions of Bekkah Brunstetter's Miss Lilly Gets Boned and Gregory S. Moss's Billy Witch. In the past, she has worked at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, NYTW, Playwrights Realm, and Two River Theater Company. Select Producing Credits include: Be A Good Little Widow (Wild Project), Couriers and Contrabands (TBG), Cygnus (WP's Pipeline Festival, 2016 Kilroy List), and Reentry (American Records), which tours US Naval bases as part of their sailor reintegration training. This brought her full circle in life as she is a third generation Navy brat producing theater for the Navy. She was a Time Warner Foundation Fellow of the 2014-2016 Producer's Lab at the Women's Project Theater, NYC. She also holds a BA and a BBA from The College of William and Mary.
