Broadway By The Bay, the Peninsula's premier musical theatre company, honors outgoing Artistic Director Brooke Knight with Applause! Applause! A Grand Farewell To Brooke Knight on November 13, 2011 at the Four Seasons Hotel Palo Alto. The event begins with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 5:00 PM. This black tie benefit gala will be highlighted by a tribute performance featuring songs from some of Knight's favorite shows during her 18 years at Broadway By The Bay, including Jesus Christ Superstar, Beauty and the Beast, Ragtime, Crazy For You and more, sung by performers from past shows.

Tickets are $185; tables are $1850, $2500 for preferred seating. Tickets and tables may be purchased by phone at 650-579-5565 or on the Web at www.broadwaybythebay.org.

"It has been a wonderful joy for me here at Broadway By The Bay and my passing of the baton comes at a time when the company is stronger than ever," says Knight. "With our recent move to the Fox Theatre in Redwood City and the announcement of Amanda Folena as the new Artistic Director, I believe that each season will continue to surprise and delight audiences with quality musical productions." Executive Director Jim Gardia says, "Brooke has been a tremendous asset to this company and we are extremely grateful to her. Although she is retiring we hope to have her back to direct for us in the future."

During her tenure at Broadway By The Bay, Knight has directed 18 productions and overseen 60 musical productions, while guiding the company to garner continual recognition for its work with over 45 Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Awards. Brooke's own directorial talents have earned nominations from the BATCC for her productions of 42nd Street, Sweet Charity, Jesus Christ Superstar, Camelot and Singin' in the Rain. Brooke's production of Guys and Dolls won five Bay Area Critics Awards, including "Best Direction" and "Best Entire Production." Some of Brooke's favorite directorial endeavors include Company, Will Rogers Follies, Cabaret, JC Superstar and Ragtime. In 2000 Brooke was the recipient of the Bravo! Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Performing Arts, and she was honored by The Peninsula Arts Foundation with the Diamond Award of "Individual Artist of 2009."
