Patti Gallagher to Perform at Arthur Newman Theater, 10/6

Local singer Patti Gallagher will perform her latest cabaret concert "Those Fabulous Forties" at the Arthur Newman Theater in the Joslyn Center on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 2 PM. With songs from Broadway, Hollywood films, and Big Band standards, Ms. Gallagher and her pianist Joyce Ellenson have crafted a timeless combination of material that will appeal to most of our desert community with tidbits of history about the music to make for a wonderful afternoon.

Patti started her professional singing career after graduation from Indiana University of Music touring with Giancarlo Menotti's two-character Opera, "The Telephone. While singing leading roles in operas and musicals with companies in St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Chicago, she earned a Master's degree in Vocal Performance and a PhD. in Theatre Arts. Moving to Los Angeles she taught singing and acting at Santa Monica College. After her husband retired they moved to Palm Springs and she sang opera at Mario's Restaurant, appeared in six "Musical Chairs", served on the board of the Palm Springs Opera Guild, and sang in three "Opera in the Park" productions. In 2000 Patti was crowned Ms. Senior America and was invited to sing at the White House at Christmas time.

"Those Fabulous" starring Patti Gallagher with piano accompaniment by Joyce Ellenson, will be presented at 2 PM on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Arthur Newman Theater in The Joslyn Center at 73750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert. Presented by Les Michaels Life Is A Cabaret Entertainment as part of the Sundays In Summer Series, tickets are $10 cash only and available at the box office, which opens at 1 PM before the show.
