DaveyBoy Productions, in association with Amigos del REP and Border Angels, presents "Letters from the Wall: Cartas del Muro" as the next in Amigos del REP's series of free play readings by Latino artists. Arranged and directed by Amigos Producer and San Diego actor Dave Rivas, "Letters from the Wall" will be read on June 21, 2016 at 7PM in the Lyceum Stage Theatre. The play will then be included as a part of the 2016 San Diego Fringe Festival from June 23 to July 3.

Originally written as a bi-national theatrical event by Dave Rivas, "Letters from the Wall" was first performed on November 21, 2015 on both sides of the border wall in San Ysidro, California and Playas, Tijuana, Mexico, with actors performing simultaneously on the United States and Mexico sides in English and Spanish. Each "letter" is woven together from the true stories, letters, emails and even bedtime stories that Rivas has collected. More content is being added all the time as audience members share their own stories or experiences after each performance. "Letters from the Wall" is an ever growing and changing series that seeks to address the human experience in pursuit of a better life.

"I am proud to unite the arts with a positive, progressive stance on human rights with The Border Angels," says Rivas. "As long as there are stories to be told by those affected by immigration, deportation and the wall, we will have stories to share with the world through performance."

"Now more than ever, Letters from the Wall is important, as we need to humanize the migrant experience," says Border Angels founder Enrique Morones.

Amigos del REP readings are free and open to the public, with no tickets necessary. For more information, visit SDRep.org or call 619.544.1000.

Border Angels, founded by Enrique Morones in 1986, is a non-profit organization supporting humanity. The organization consists of extraordinary volunteers who want to stop unnecessary deaths of individuals traveling through the Imperial Valley desert areas and the mountain areas surrounding San Diego County, as well as the areas located around the United States and Mexican border. The high percentage of unnecessary deaths have been results of extreme heat and cold weather conditions, in addition some have sadly been the results of racial discrimination crimes. Border Angels is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that advocates for human rights, humane immigration reform, and social justice with a special focus on issues related to issues related to the US-Mexican border. Border Angels engages in community education and awareness programs that include guided trips to the desert to place water along migrant crossing routes as well as to the border to learn about the history of US-Mexico border policy and experience the border wall firsthand. Border Angels also works to serve San Diego County's immigrant population through various migrant outreach programs such as Day Laborer outreach and our free legal assistance program held in our office every Tuesday. Border Angels works to dispel the various myths surrounding immigration in the United States and to bring back truth and justice.
