Cygnet Theatre has announced a concert reading of Side by Side by Sondheim, a musical revue of Sondheim favorites. Directed by David McBean with Musical Direction by Chris Myers, Side by Side by Sondheim will be presented for TWO NIGHTS ONLY, August 19 & 20 at 7:00pm.

Side by Side by Sondheim features a dazzling array of some of Sondheim's songs from landmark shows that revolutionized the musical theatre with their masterful craft and astounding creativity:Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Anyone Can Whistle and Pacific Overtures, not to mention the classics written with musical theatre giants Leonard Bernstein, Jule Styne and Richard Rodgers, West Side Story, Gypsy, and Do I Hear a Waltz? Also included are delectable rarities from the television musical Evening Primrose, the filmThe Seven Percent Solution and the hit revue The Mad Show.

The show is a perfect compliment to Cygnet's current production of Company by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth, which was recently extended thru August 25th.

Cygnet Resident Artist David McBean (It's A Wonderful Life, Dirty Blonde, Fully Committed) is set to direct and perform alongside a stellar cast which includes fellow Resident Artist Sandy Campbell(Assassins, Parade, The Norman Conquests), as well as Bryan Banville (Assassins, Man of La Mancha) and Cygnet newcomer Caitie Grady. Accompaniment will be provided by Musical DirectorChris Myers.

The benefit event is sponsored by Artist Advocate Ralph Johnson. All proceeds from the two evenings will go towards supporting Cygnet's Artist Advocate program which in turn supports the Cygnet Artists.

Performances of Side by Side by Sondheim are August 19th and 20th at 7:00pm. Tickets for these special performances are $50 / $30 based on seat location.
