North Coast REP presents a full evening of soulful, acoustic music that you will no doubt leave you spellbound! Indie singers/songwriters, Jenn Grinels and Meghan Andrews, will be in concert one night only on Monday, September 20th. In addition to the live performance, there will be a special Happy Hour with $1 Stone Ales and a FREE Happy Hour Buffet. The Happy Hour begins at 5:30PM and the concert follows at 7:30PM.

Jenn Grinels, the self described "soulful, bluesy, jazzy, folk rock singer/songwriter" returns to the San Diego area after spending two full years on the road armed with only her guitar and copies of her full length album Little Words.  Grinels first earned her reputation around Southern California for her stage work.  Grinels played Janis Joplin in the long running Beehive at the Theatre in Old Town, as well as Yitzhak in Cygnet Theatre's inaugural production Hegwig and the Angry Inch.  North Coast Rep audiences may remember Grinels from Jacques Brel is Alive . . . Paris, Back to Bacharach or singing in the cafe after performances of Honky Tonk Angels (Grinels was an understudy.)  But since releasing her album and hitting the road, Grinels has become one of the regions most critically lauded singer/songwriters.  North County Times gave her album a "Grade: A", San Diego CityBeat called her voice "truly phenomenal" and suggested that "anyone looking for San Diego's second coming of Jewel would do well to pick up Little Words" and The San Diego Reader called Grinels "the real, talented epitome of today's best indie music."  The glowing reviews don't end there (see below.)  Additionally, Grinels has won several accolades in the past two years including the regional Honoring Acoustic Talent Awards for both Best Performer and Best Vocalist in 2007 and the national honor of APCA 2010 Female Solo Artist of the Year.  This past spring, Grinels was signed by one of the world's largest music management companies (with a roster than includes Christina Aguilera and Van Halen) and is set to record a new album this fall!  See her in this intimate setting while you still can!

Meghan Andrews is a singer songwriter whose music and lyrics modernize the folk spirit of the sixties by encompassing the world around her into a new contemporary sound.  Her honesty, lyricism and musicality have the power to melt the heart and blow the mind with each listening. As part of the New York narrative where a young arranger weds a jazz vocalist and a new family of artists is born, Meg's career in the music business began at a very early age.  By eighteen she had already spent years as a singer and actor in New York before she began writing and playing solo shows in clubs around Manhattan.

While Meghan is primarily a solo artist and has performed in some of New York City's most renowned venues such as "The Bottom Line" and "CBGB's," she has also collaborated on a number of albums, and her original song "Jaikara" was featured in the film "The Evolution Will Be Televised," a documentary about Aids in the media, which was the premiere broadcast for the Cable channel LOGO. In 2006, Meghan recorded her debut album introducing the world to her songwriting and singing style that is refreshingly hard to characterize.  Her CD "Center of Gravity" consisted of eight original songs and received wonderful reviews: "Meg is a twenty-something artist with a multi-generational appeal, combining her passion for writing and performing music in a power-packed program of original songs." -The Center for Creative Resources

Recently, Meghan completed her latest album with producer, Loren Toolajian, who has produced music tracks with and for, among others, T Bone Burnett, Sam Shepard, Alicia Keys, Sheryl Crow, and Jennifer Hudson.  Their album, recorded at Sear Sound in New York City, was executive produced by American recording engineer and vintage recording equipment guru, Mr. Walter Sear himself.  Collaborative musicians featured on this stunning record include: Steve Gadd (Steely Dan, Paul Simon), Marc Ribot (T Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello), Greg Cohen (Tom Waits, Ornette Coleman, John Zorn), Eric Friedlander (Laurie Anderson, Courtney Love), Steve Jagoda (Richie Havens, T Bone Burnett), Kenny Wollensen (Norah Jones, Sean Lennon), and beats by the electro-pop remix master Penguin Prison.
