AMERICAN IDOL XIII (2014) finalist and first openly gay contestant Keith London will be the special guest performer at the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus Encore benefit on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. at Martinis Above Fourth.

American Idol viewers saw London beautifully sing Beyoncé's "If I Were a Boy" without changing the pronouns as an expression of being a gay man. But what caused social media to explode were the surprising and controversial remarks made by judges Harry Connick Jr. and Jennifer Lopez including Lopez's remark "it is bizarre." London didn't back down, choosing his second song to be Macklemore's gay anthem "Same Love."

"This is the most musical and fun benefit of the year," said Bob Lehman, SDGMC Executive Director. "Come help our chorus continue its outreach mission of changing lives one voice at a time."

Also making a special appearance will be out country star Jonathan Wiley, one of the most noted new singer-songwriters touring the country today. Joining Wiley will be members of SDGMC including the popular Mood Swings ensemble and special guest acts.

Regular tickets are $75 and include Martini's famous appetizers and VIP tickets are $125 and include prime seating, appetizers and two beverages. Tickets and more information are available at www.sdgmcencore.com. To make a general donation, go to www.sdgmc.org or call (619) 850-8698. Martinis Above Fourth is located at 3940 Fourth Avenue, Second Level in Hillcrest.

Under the artistic direction of RC Haus, SDGMC is celebrating its 30th anniversary of performing for San Diego audiences. With more than 200 members, it is one of the largest gay choruses in the world. The group's official mission is to create a positive musical experience through exciting performances that engage audiences, build community support and provide a dynamic force for social change.
