A RAISIN IN THE SUN by Lorraine Hansberry closes at the Perseverance Theater on April 1, 2012 and will play at the Sydney Laurence Theatre at the Anchorage Center for the Performing Arts from April 13-22, 2011.

When a $10,000 life insurance check promises to change the lives of the Younger family, they must decide what to do with the money. In one of the greatest domestic dramas about the American Dream, four generations face the cost of dreams deferred and struggle with the decision to move out of a Chicago ghetto. Doubts creep in as to whether the children of the Youngers can raise the family's standard of living beyond what their parents accomplished. Filled with family, love and hope, don't miss this rare opportunity to see one of America's classic works. A Raisin in the Sun was the first play produced on Broadway from an African American woman writer and an African American director.

Jade King Carroll will direct the production. The artistic team will feature set design by Art Rotch and Sound design by Ed Littlefield.
