The Utah Symphony has announced three Broadway-related concerts in the coming year.

The first will be included in the annual Deer Valley Music Festival in Park City. Part of the Broadway Rocks! series, the concert will be performed at the Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater on July 28, 2012 at 7:30 pm. Vocalists have not yet been announced, but last year’s Broadway Rocks! concert at Deer Valley included performances by Rob Evan, Ryan Silverman, Virginia Woodruff, and Morgan James. Rock and pop songs from Broadway shows will be performed.

A Holiday Celebration with Bravo Broadway! will be performed at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City on December 21 and 22, 2012 at 8:00 pm. Broadway vocalists already announced are Doug LaBrecque and Capathia Jenkins (who will soon star as Medda in the upcoming Broadway production of Disney’s Newsies).

The Utah Symphony Chorus will join as-yet-unannounced guest soloists for “Do You Hear the People Sing” – From Les Mis to Miss Saigon, a tribute to the creative team of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg. It will be performed at Abravanel Hall on March 1 and 2, 2013 at 8:00 pm. The program, co-conceived by Jason Moore, who directed Avenue Q and Shrek the Musical on Broadway, is currently on tour across the country. Guest soloists at other venues often include Terrence Mann (twice Tony nominated as the original Broadway Javert in Les Miserables and Beast in Beauty and the Beast), Jennifer Paz, Kathy Voytko, Eric Kunze, and Marie Zamora. All three concerts will be conducted by Utah’s Symphony’s pops conductor, Jerry Steichen. For more information and season tickets, visit www.utahsymphony.org.
