Downtown Salt Lake City will once again look like the set of a zombie apocalypse movie on Sunday, August 30, 2015, as Utah's undead participate in the eighth annual Zombie Walk sponsored by Salt Lake Comic Con (http://saltlakecomiccon.com/).

This is the third year in a row that Salt Lake Comic Con has sponsored the SLC Zombie Walk. As in the previous two years, Salt Lake Comic Con will utilize this event to raise awareness and food for the Utah Food Bank through its "Food Not Brains" campaign. As part of the Zombie Walk, walkers and survivors that donate one grocery sack of food will receive a free pass to Salt Lake Comic Con 2015.

In the two years since launching this campaign, Salt Lake Comic Con and its more than 150,000 fans have donated more than two busloads of food to the Utah Food Bank. This year's event will include donation bins at the walk start and finish line and is expected to break previous campaign efforts. Walkers and survivors are encouraged to give generously to help ensure no Utahan goes hungry.

"The Zombie Walk is one of my favorite events and a great way to do something really different and support a great cause," said Dan Farr, Salt Lake Comic Con Founder and Show Producer. "It's important for us to be a part of our community and give back where we can. The SLC Zombie Walk is a great event where we can enlist the support of our fans and the community to have fun and make a real difference."

This year's Zombie Walk will start at the Gateway by the fountains at 4:00-6:00 p.m. MDT. The route will wind through the Gateway and pass the Salt Palace Convention Center before making its way back to the finish line at the Gateway fountains. It's anticipated that the walk will attract more than 3,000 participants.

The Utah Food Bank's mission is to fight hunger statewide. In years past the Food Bank has served more than 28 million meals to hungry Utahans and their families.

"There are a number of zombie fans here in Utah, and a large percentage like to dress up and role play," said Bryan Brandenburg, Chief Marketing Officer for Salt Lake Comic Con. "The SLC Zombie Walk is a fun way for fans to dress up with friends, family and other zombie enthusiasts to create a one-of-a-kind experience for unsuspecting neighbors and residents of downtown Salt Lake City. We're thrilled to make a difference in the community and help feed the underprivileged. It's why we keep doing this year after year."
