Musical-chair-playing penguins, hippos afflicted with insomnia, giant frogs and all manner of inventive, larger-than-life theatrical antics fill The Eccles Center on Sunday, November 3. Imago Theatre returns to Park City with a new show, "ZooZoo," a giggle-inducing performance designed for audience members aged three to 103. Show starts at 6 p.m.

ZooZoo is performed without words to an original score by Katie Griesar. As the name implies, this captivating theatrical event showcases a gorgeously costumed menagerie of characters. Created by Carol Triffle and Jerry Mouawad of acclaimed Imago Theatre, ZooZoo is a rare blend of acrobatics, mime, humor and theatrical high jinks.

A cast of five plays a multitude of characters ranging from fireflies to giant polar bears. The show's universal themes are presented with a light touch, as animals take on human characteristics and inanimate objects spring to mischievous life. Winking eyes in the dark transform into a flock of birds. A hippo couple struggles for room on a tiny bed. Throughout the show, there are anteater waiters, edgy frogs, a huge paper bag that comes to life, dancing polar bears, crazy cats, an acrobatic larva and competitive penguins.

The silliness is geared toward children, but it tends to speak to all ages. As the Boston Globe writes of Imago's last show, FROGZ, "[Imago's show] is a rare theatrical event: family friendly entertainment that is actually friendly to everyone in the family... Imago Theatre's lively varied program of genuinely inventive theatrics provides true aesthetic pleasure and truly goofy fun." ZooZoo promises to deliver similarly magical fun for all.

Park City Institute presents Imago Theatre's "ZooZoo" on Sunday, November 3. The performance takes place at The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Center for the Performing Arts (1750 Kearns Blvd., Park City). Show starts at 6 p.m. General Admission Tickets are $15; Reserved Seating is $30 (20-percent discount for seniors, ½ price tickets for children ages 16 and under; $5 seats are available in the Copper Section for Summit County students (K-12).
