The B Street Theatre will present the Sacramento regional premiere of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Christopher Durang's Tony Award-winning comedy, running May 4 -June 15, 2014.

Middle-aged siblings Vanya and Sonia share a home in Bucks County, PA, where they bicker and complain about the circumstances of their lives. Suddenly, their movie-star sister, Masha, swoops in with her new boy toy, Spike. Old resentments flare up, eventually leading to threats to sell the house. Also on the scene are sassy maid Cassandra, who can predict the future, and a lovely young aspiring actress named Nina, whose prettiness somewhat worries the imperious Masha. Will Vanya and Sonia ever find happiness? Will Masha sell the Bucks County farmhouse out from under them? And will Spike ever put his pants on?

Christopher Durang is a widely produced contemporary American playwright. Most recently, he won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play for Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. He has also received multiple Obies, among many other accolades. Durang is the recipient of the 2012 PEN Master American Dramatist Award and a 2013 inductee to the Theater Hall of Fame. Among his best known plays are Sister Mary Ignatius, Beyond Therapy, The Marriage of Bette and Boo, Laughing Wild, Betty's Summer Vacation, and the Pulitzer Prize-finalist Miss Witherspoon.
