Now Playing Onstage in Sacramento - Week of 6/08/2014 MY HERO, RAY MOLINA
Punch Line Comedy Club
6/11-6/11/2014
Ray Molina has been called a "genius," and "brilliant!" Usually by grammar school drop outs. But his influence on comedy has been witnessed by millions. He was recently chosen to be part of Comedy Central's talent search where he won the Sacramento votes to move to the next round. He has worked with probably all of the comedians you can think of and his material has been heard and seen on TV and throughout the country via Comedy Central Radio. His style is his own and it's a mix of thoughtful insights about humanity and absurd examinations of mundane and relatable concepts. Ray's performance is high energy AND low energy all at the same time. If you haven't seen Ray Molina do stand up then you haven't experienced all of what Sacramento has to offer. He's not a shock comedian, but he does have a point. He's not an insult comedian, if anything he's a compliment comedian because his comedy compliments any evening. He will be joined by one or two of his favorite comedians for a night of warm hearted and simply hilarious comedy. He encourages audience participation and cultivates an atmosphere of openness and security that allows for some authentically funny.

Danny's complex new drama about an African-American family struggling to leave the projects has just been selected for the nation's preeminent play festival. But Danny, a young white, gay playwright, submitted his work under a pseudonym in the hope of increasing its chances for production. So he hires Emilie, a black actress, to stand in for him as author. What starts out as a questionable idea pulls Danny, Emilie, Danny's boyfriend, and his best friend down a path littered with truth, lies, revelation, and betrayal. Now Playing Onstage in Sacramento - Week of 6/08/2014 TWO DUMB DOGS
Sutter Street Theatre
6/7-7/6/2014
This hilarious comedy has lessons that include discovering self-confidence, using your brain and recognizing that following rules is sometimes a good thing. Ferdo and Floof are two not-very-bright dogs-well…at least not to your average fifth grader. The dogs strongly desire to break the rules of their owner, Roger, and constantly get into trouble in the process. Their adventures take them on a trip to seek fame and fortune on their own. They enter the enchanted forest-despite the warnings of the wise old owl-and encounter a cursed prince who has been turned to stone by the terribly wicked Queen Malevella; a hapless poodle Mimi and the legendary Dog Shouter. Ferdo and Floof must rally their brainpower to release the prince and escape from the queen's dungeon. This is fun for the entire family.

Now Playing Onstage in Sacramento - Week of 6/08/2014 ALL MY SONS
Sutter Street Theatre
6/13-7/14/2014
During the war Joe Keller and Herbert Deever ran a machine shop which made airplane parts. Deever was sent to prison because the firm turned out defective parts, causing the deaths of many men. Keller went free and made a lot of money. The twin shadows of this catastrophe and the fact that the young Keller son was reported missing during the war dominate the action. The love affair of Chris Keller and Ann Deever, the bitterness of George Deever returned from the war to find his father in prison and his father's partner free, are all set in a structure of almost unbearable power. The climax showing the reaction of a son to his guilty father is fitting conclusion to a play electrifying in its intensity.
