Purchase College to Welcome Rafael Ferrer for Voiceover Intensive

Purchase College, SUNY will welcome professional voiceover actor Rafael Ferrer from March 25 through May 13 to teach the Voiceover Intensive course. This noncredit class, run through the School of Liberal Studies & Continuing Education, will be held Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost of the class is $320.

KElly Jackson, Director of the School of Continuing Education at Purchase College, said, "We're proud of this unique program which is perfect for actors of any age and in any stage of their career. We're confident it will provide the practical skills and tools needed to help build an exciting career in voiceover work."

The class will gain experience in voiceover basics, script breakdown, promotion, commercials, movie trailers, and animation. Students will leave with information about how to work with directors and how to prepare and excel in auditions. Other skills include work on tone, voice quality, volume, inflection, phrasing, and versatility in multiple genres. The class will include the chance for valuable feedback and critique in a supportive setting.

At the end of the session, students will get the chance to meet one of New York's top voiceover agents in the industry, Purchase College alumna Linda Weaver, who will take part in a Q&A with the students.

Rafael Ferrer has been a professional voiceover actor for almost 30 years. His voice is one of the most identifiable and requested in the entertainment industry. His voiceover credits include more than 1,000 national commercials. He has also voiced network promos for every major television broadcast and cable network and movie trailers for every Hollywood studio. He is the voice of Pencil in HBO's Little Curious cartoon series, Stavros in FX's Archer, and Darth Malak for the popular video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Linda Weaver is co-owner with Chas Cowing of Access Talent, a boutique agency specializing in voiceovers and spoken word. In 1974 Linda graduated with honors from Purchase College with a degree in psychology.
