Just In! AN AMERICAN IN PARIS Announces Cities and Schedule for U.S. Tour

AN AMERICAN IN PARIS will launch a national tour in Boston at the Citi Wang Theatre October 25-November 6, following a preview period at Proctor's in Schenectady, NY. The New York production just celebrated one year on Broadway, and continues performances at the Palace Theatre. A West End production of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS will start in March 2017 at the Dominion Theatre.

The announced tour route includes: Schenectady (preview performances) - October 14-21, 2016; Boston - October 25-November 6, 2016; Buffalo - November 8-13, 2016; Hartford - November 15-20, 2016; Philadelphia - November 22-27, 2016; Greenville - November 29-December 4, 2016; West Palm Beach - December 6-11, 2016; Orlando - December 13-18, 2016; Tampa - December 20-25, 2016; Miami - December 27, 2016-January 1, 2017; Durham - January 3-8, 2017; Charlotte - January 10-15, 2017; St. Louis - January 17-29, 2017; Houston - February 21-March 5, 2017; Denver - March 8-19, 2017; Los Angeles - March 22-April 9, 2017; Las Vegas - April 11-16, 2017; Tempe - April 18-23, 2017; Costa Mesa - April 25-May 7, 2017; Seattle - May 9-14 2017; Portland - May 16-21, 2017; Pittsburgh - May 30-June 11, 2017; St. Paul - June 13-18, 2017; Cleveland - June 20-July 9, 2017; Des Moines - July 18-23, 2017; Atlanta - August 15-20, 2017. Additional cities will be announced soon.

As previously announced, Garen Scribner,currently playing Jerry Mulligan in the Broadway production, will star in the tour along with Sara Esty, who plays Lise Dassin at various performances on Broadway. Additional casting for the tour will be announced in the coming months.

Inspired by the Academy-Award winning film, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS is the romantic story about an American soldier, a mysterious French girl and an indomitable European city, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war. Directed and choreographed by 2015 Tony Award-winner Christopher Wheeldon,the show features the music and lyrics of George and Ira Gershwin, and a book by Craig Lucas.

AN AMERICAN IN PARIS received 12 2015 Tony nominations and won four, including Best Choreography, Best Orchestrations, Best Set and Best Lighting Design. The musical also won four Drama Desk Awards; four Outer Critics Circle Awards including Best Musical; the Drama League Award for Best Musical; three Fred and Adele Astaire Awards; and two Theatre World Awards. The musical was included on the Year's Best lists of the Associated Press, Entertainment Weekly, The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and The Wall Street Journal. The Masterworks Broadway Original Broadway Cast recording of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS was nominated for the Best Musical Theater Album Grammy Award.

The creative team is comprised of Tony Award-winners Bob Crowley (sets and costumes), Natasha Katz (lighting), Jon Weston (sound), 59 Productions (projections) with the musical score adapted, arranged and supervised by Rob Fisher, orchestrations by Christopher Austin, dance arrangements by Sam Davis, musical supervision by Todd Ellison with additional orchestrations by Don Sebesky and Bill Elliott. Casting is by Telsey + Company/Rachel Hoffman, C.S. A.

The score of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS includes the songs "I Got Rhythm," "Liza," "'S'Wonderful," "But Not For Me," "I'll Build a Stairway to Paradise," and orchestral music including "Concerto in F," "Second Prelude," "Second Rhapsody/Cuban Overture" and "An American In Paris."

The production opened to widespread critical acclaim at the Palace Theatre on Broadway on April 12, 2015 after its world premiere at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris November 22, 2014-January 4, 2015.

The producers are Stuart Oken, Van Kaplan and Roy Furman by special arrangement with Elephant Eye Theatrical, Pittsburgh CLO and Théâtre du Châtelet.
