"The public's response to this production has been so overwhelming, "states Curt Columbus, Trinity Rep's Richard L. Bready Artistic Director, "Audiences have been reacting on such an emotional level to this story - a tight-knit family driven out of their home and fighting to stay alive. When the opportunity arose to extend the show, the cast immediately asked for us to arrange for one performance to support people facing those same problems today. It was our honor to dedicate this additional Friday performance to benefit DARE and RI Coalition for the Homeless, two groups committed to making a difference locally."
Adapted for the stage by Frank Galati, this evocative and deeply affecting stage version of The Grapes of Wrath lifts Steinbeck's novel to new heights of theatrical urgency when married with director Brian McEleney's visceral storytelling style. Part naturalistic epic, part road novel, part inspirational gospel,The Grapes of Wrath boasts a 17 member cast and original folk-rock music from the show's band, 3pile. Now extended through October 12, tickets forThe Grapes of Wrath are available at the Trinity Rep box office, 201 Washington St.; by phone at (401) 351-4242; and online at www.trinityrep.com
