The Community Players announce open auditions for MEN ONLY for our spring musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, to be held Tuesday, December 8 at St. Margaret School 42 Bishop Avenue Rumford, RI 02916-1898

Sign-in will begin at 6:00 pm, with auditions beginning promptly at 6:30 pm.

Taking place in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It's a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever. Based on the popular movie, the stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie includes a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers.

Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment.

Director Greg Geer is actively pursuing an ethnically diverse cast. Those interested in auditioning should prepare 16-32 bars of music (bring clearly marked sheet music in appropriate key), and should come prepared to dance. An accompanist will be provided (no tapes or CDs, please). There will be a combination taught to everyone plus an optional tap combination for those interested in roles where tap is required. Auditions will also consist of readings from the script.

Production dates are April 9, 10, 11; 16, 17, 18; 23, 24, 25 at Jenks Auditorium.
Musical direction is by Ron Procopio, with choreography by Tim Reid.
