THE REVOLUTIONISTS Roar Into Epic

Epic Theatre Company continues its season of "Conviction" with a sophisticated and sharp comedy about four famous women in the midst of a revolution. Set during the Reign of Terror, Olympe de Gouges, Charlotte Corday, Marianne Angelle, and Marie Antoinette banter, scheme, plan a murder, and debate their part in history in this fantastical and fabulous play about what we can do to change the world around us and whether we have the conviction to do it.

"This show has become a highly anticipated event here at the theater," says Epic Artistic Director Kevin Broccoli, "Lauren Gunderson is one of the most frequently produced playwrights in the country, and for some reason, she's never had a professional production done in this area. We think The Revolutionists is the perfect introduction to her work. It's smart, stylized, and sensational. We're so excited to perform it in our more intimate space at 50 Rolfe so the audience is right in the middle of the action."

The Revolutionists marks the Epic directorial debut of Lynne Collinson, a legendary local actress and one of the founders of the WomensWork Theatre Collaborative. She recently directed Eclipsed for The Players and My Left Breast for WWTC. She's appeared onstage at Epic in Rasheeda Speaking and Wolf Hall.

"Lynne is the perfect director for this production," says Broccoli, "I sent her the script and she just fell in love with it. Audiences across the state already know her as a stellar actress, but now she's also made a name for herself as a skilled director who has a razor-sharp focus when it comes to bringing stories that advocate for women to the stage. We couldn't be happier to have her working with us again, and I hope this is the first of many collaborations together."

The Revolutionists runs February 8th - 23rd at 50 Rolfe Square, home of the Artists' Exchange, where Epic Theatre is the resident theater company.
