The National Tour of The Lincoln Center Theater Production ofRodgers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I will launch at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) this fall. A preview performance has been announced for Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 1P, with regular performances running from Tuesday, November 1 through Sunday, November 6, 2016.

Tickets will go on sale on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10A at the PPAC Box Office (220 Weybosset Street in downtown Providence), online atwww.ppacri.org and by phone at (401) 421-ARTS (2787). Tickets start at $31; all ticket prices include a $3 per ticket restoration charge and are subject to change without notice. For a complete range of prices, please visitwww.ppacri.org. PPAC Box Office Hours are Monday through Friday, 10A to 5P;Saturday, 10A to 2P and two hours prior to curtain times.

THE KING AND I, directed by Tony Award® Winner Bartlett Sher, won four 2015 Tony Awards® including Best Revival of a Musical. The production ran on Broadway at the Vivian Beaumont Theater from March 12, 2015 through June 26, 2016.

Bartlett Sher is reunited with the award-winning creative team from South Pacificand The Light in the Piazza. THE KING AND I has sets by Michael Yeargan; costumes by Catherine Zuber; lights by Donald Holder (all three nominated for 2015 Tony Awards®); sound by Scott Lehrer (2015 Drama Desk Award nomination); THE KING AND I features choreography by Christopher Gattelli based on the original choreography by Jerome Robbins.

One of Rodgers & Hammerstein's finest works, THE KING AND I boasts a score which features such beloved classics as Getting To Know You, Hello Young Lovers, Shall We Dance, I Have Dreamed, and Something Wonderful. Set in 1860s Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher, whom the modernist King, in an imperialistic world, brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children.
