Ocean State Theatre Company is proud to announce the expansion of their award-winning theatre camp for students ages 9-14. Next year, in addition to Ocean State Theatre Company's award-winning summer camps, the company will be adding winter and spring break vacation camps in both February and April.

"We are so excited to be able to expand our offerings once again," said Producing Artistic Director, Amiee Turner. "Now that we have the classroom space, we are trying to 'give the people what they want.' Our successful introduction of Camp OSTC, Jr. this past summer, was in direct response to numerous inquiries we had had over the years for a camp for younger children. Since adding a Director of Educational Programming at the beginning of the season, we now have the personnel to offer school vacation camps."

Camp OSTC Vacation Camps will be offered for two separate one-week sessions - the first from February 15 - 19 and the second from April 18 - 22. Campers may attend either or both sessions. The first session, entitled Auditioning Made Easy: Mastering the Musical Audition, will include song and monologue selection assistance, one on one song and monologue coaching, tips for essential audition techniques, introduction/"slating," poise and composure, headshot and resume basics. The second session, entitled Creative Playmaking: The Art of Devising Theatre, takes ideas built from collaborative creation, teaches and reinforces the enduring understanding of ensemble, and builds a show from scratch based on a chosen theme.

Ocean State Theatre Company is happy to welcome Jason Loete, the company's new Director of Educational Programming & Community Outreach, who will be the Camp Director for both sessions of the new Camp OSTC Vacation Camps. Mr. Loete, served as the head of theatre arts at Cypress Lake Center for the Arts in Fort Myers, Florida for the past ten years and served on the board of directors for the Florida State Thespians for four years. He holds a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Iowa and has begun certification coursework in Lecoq technique through Brooklyn College. A professional actor and director, Mr. Loete has appeared in more than 50 productions, including three with OSTC and directed a total of 64 productions, both professional and educational, during his career.

Camp OSTC Vacation Camps, for children ages 9-14, will be held at OSTC's Educational Annex located at One Echo Drive in Warwick, RI (adjacent to the theatre) from February 15 - 19 and April 18 - 22. Spots for both camps will be filled on a first come/first served basis. Space is limited.
