Theatre By The Sea owner and producer Bill Hanney, Producing Artistic Director Amiee Turner and Managing Producer Joel Kipper are proud to continue Theatre By The Sea's 2010 Children's Festival with Jabberwocky presented by Crabgrass Puppet Theatre on Friday, July 23, 2010.

One of the best known poems in children's literature springs to life through the wit and whimsy of Crabgrass Puppet Theatre. Explore the magical world of Lewis Carroll's Alice Through the Looking Glass, where you'll meet wondrous creatures like the Mimsy Borogrove, the Frumious Bandersnatch, and the dreaded Jabberwock! This celebration of the imagination is a marvelous introduction to the world of poetry, as well as a fabulous and funny adventure tale filled with stunning puppets and fantastical scenery.

Crabgrass Puppet Theatre has delighted audiences across the nation with their whimsical humor and puppetry since 1982. Not only do originators Jamie Keithline and Bonny Hall perform all of their shows, they also design and build all of the puppets and sets, write the scripts, and record the soundtracks. Now residents of Halifax, Vt., they continue performing throughout the U.S. in schools, museums, and theaters. Performance venues have included the Detroit Institute of Art, the Smithsonian, Paper Mill Playhouse, Tribeca Performing Arts Center, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and dozens of regional and national puppetry festivals. In 2001 Jamie and Bonny were honored by their peers, when their production Anansi, Spiderman of Africa! was awarded an UNIMA-USA Citation of Excellence, the highest honor in American puppetry. This honor was repeated in 2005 with the receipt of a second UNI award for The Bremen Town Musicians. In 2008, Bonny received a Commendation for Design in the Puppet Theatre by the Arlyn Award Foundation for The Day It Snowed Tortillas.

After the performance, families can enjoy cold drinks, pizza and cookies, which will be available for purchase at the gazebo.
