After a near sell-out performance at Ocean State Theatre last year, Rhode Island's own Ida Zecco returns with her popular holiday concert, A Song for the Season, which will be presented for one show only on Sunday, December 6 at 7:30 pm.

A yearly perennial, performed nationally, A Song for the Season is one of Ms. Zecco's most demanded performances across New England/NYC areas. She will sing selections from her successful holiday CD "A Song for Christmas," (which has sold over 90,000 copies, world-wide and climbing), as well as integrate seasonal monologues and her own stand-up comedy. The performance will be funny, always beautifully musical and a show which just glitters! Selections will include "My Favorite Things," "A Song for Christmas," "The Christmas Waltz," "Dieter's Prayer," "Christmas Time Is Here," "Santa Baby," "A Christmas Love Song," "I'll Be Home For Christmas"/"No Place Like Home for the Holidays," "A Child is Born," "All Those Christmas Clichés," "The Holiday Song," "Silent Night," "My Christmas Wish," "The Secret of Christmas," "My Christmas Song for You" and more.

A native Rhode Islander, Ida Zecco has played concerts all over the world! She earned her Bachelors of Music in voice/cello at the Mozarteum University, Salzburg, Austria, and completed a Masters in Music Therapy at the Orff Institute. She later acquired a Masters in Fine Arts in acting and directing at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Ida has studied at the Actor's Studio, NYU and with Uta Hagen at HB Studio in New York City.

A professional actress and member of Actors' Equity Association (AEA), Boston audiences will recognize her from her roles as Barbara DeMarco, Mrs. Shubert, and Sgt. Mikey Thomas in Shear Madness at the Charles Playhouse. Other local performance venues include Jordan Hall, Regattabar, Scullers Jazz Club, Stoneham Theatre, Providence Performing Arts Center, Columbus Theatre, and in NYC: Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Danny's Skylight Room, The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, Town Hall, and numerous stages and opera houses throughout the world, particularly in Europe and Asia.

Ms. Zecco will be accompanied by musical director, Jim Rice of Boston, Mass., who is an accomplished and diverse music director, arranger, and pianist of many styles. Jim has performed in hundreds of theaters and concert halls throughout Europe and in every state except Hawaii. Abroad, Jim has been the musical conductor for the European-Broadway tour of Ken Hill's Phantom of the Opera, as well as pianist for the Broadway production of Grease in Zurich. He has also toured nationally with Man of La Mancha and Camelot.

One dollar from every ticket purchased will be donated to the Windwalker Humane Coalition, a dedicated group of professionals, Pet Assisted Therapy (PAT) facilitators, and students, who believe in the therapeutic benefits to people, animals, and society of programs based on the human/animal-companion bond.

The remainder of the proceeds from Ms. Zecco's appearance will benefit Ocean State Theatre Company's Live Music Initiative. Although many theatres across the country have replaced their musicians with recordings in order to cut costs, OSTC firmly believes that live musicians enhance the audience's experience, when attending a musical production. Ocean State Theatre Company established its Live Music Initiative in 2008 in order to support the $80,000 annual cost of continuing the tradition of professional musicians playing live during all musical theatre performances. Proceeds from the performance will benefit the initiative.

A Song for the Season, starring Ida Zecco, will be presented at Ocean State Theatre on Sunday, December 6 at 7:30 pm. The theatre is located at 1245 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick, RI. Tickets are $40.
