Epic Theatre Company begins its 2014-2015 with Jeffrey Hatcher's witty, lush, and fascinating look at the most famous actor to ever play female roles in Shakespeare's plays, and what happened when actual women were allowed to take his place. COMPLEAT FEMALE STAGE BEAUTY, directed by Jill D. Jones, will run at Theatre 82 in Cranston, RI, from September 5 through September 13, 2014.

It's 1661, and Edward Kynaston is a celebrity--of sorts. He's a man famous for playing roles like Desdemona in "Othello." But when an actress named Margaret plays Desdemona at a competing theater, the law preventing women from stepping onstage quickly crumbles, and Kynaston's time in the spotlight may be over.

A historical comedy, an examination of gender, and a brilliant satire of all things theater--Jeffrey Hatcher's "Compleat Female Stage Beauty" is the perfect way to usher in an Epic new season.

Jill D. Jones directs Jonathan Fisher (Hurlyburly, Assisstance), Kerry Giorgi (The Other Place, Assistance), Patrick Keeffe (CTC's Assassins), Paige Barry (Counter Production's Nico Was a Fashion Model), Michael Shallcross (The Normal Heart, The Great God Pan), Elaine Leitao, Kevin Broccoli, Stephanie Traversa, Kyle DeMartino, Cherylee Sousa Dumas, Geoff White, and Christine Pavao.

Also in the creative team are Stage Manager: Jenny White; Assistant Stage Manager: Joseph Luca; Costume Design: Marilyn Salvatore; and Graphic Design: Ashley Arnold.

Performances play September 5th, 6th, 7th, 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th at Theatre 82, located at 82 Rolfe Square, Cranston RI. Recommended for Mature Audiences. Tickets: Previews $10; General Admission $15; Students and Seniors $12. For more information, visit www.EpicTheatreRI.org.
