William Peace University Renews with North Carolina Presenters Consortium for 2014-15

William Peace University, a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, has announced its renewal as a member of the North Carolina Presenters Consortium (NCPC). Founded in 1991, NCPC is a not-for-profit membership association comprised of professional performing arts presenting organizations throughout North Carolina, and industry professionals from NC and beyond, who share the mission of bringing artists and audiences together. NCPC is supported by member dues, program fees, and grant subsidy from the North Carolina Arts Council. Additional in-kind support is provided by its NC statewide project partner, OUR STATE Magazine.

As a presenting member, WPU will help the consortium to meet its mission of advancing the performing arts through collaboration, shared resources and professional development in bringing artists and audiences together for live performances. One of the most respected networks of its kind, NCPC members build valuable and treasured professional and personal relationships. Additionally, membership provides the opportunity to tap into the collective knowledge and expertise of its members.

"William Peace University's reputation as a downtown Raleigh performing arts destination is growing," said Julie E. Ricciardi, Vice President for the Office of Engagement. "With membership in the North Carolina Presenters Consortium, we gain valuable expertise and extensive networks that will help us - and other member institutions and organizations - bring artists and audiences together."

"We are delighted to renew our membership in this important North Carolina organization," said Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D., President of William Peace University. "We believe that the NCPC's and William Peace University's missions are mutually supportive. With this membership we will continue to further our mission and goals as an institution, as we help prepare our students for the careers of tomorrow."

"Being a student in both the Theatre and Musical Theatre programs, I think this is great for the school," said Melvin Gray, William Peace University '16. "This partnership will not only benefit current students, like me, but those who will be here in the future."

ABOUT WILLIAM PEACE UNIVERSITY: William Peace University is located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. It was founded in 1857 as Peace Institute, offering education for boys and girls in primary grades and to women from high school to college. Peace, an all-women's college, became a four-year baccalaureate college and graduated its first bachelor's students in August of 1996. Exclusively an all-women's institution for its first 152 years, Peace began offering coeducational evening courses through the William Peace School of Professional Studies in 2009. In 2011, Peace College transitioned to William Peace University and welcomed its first coeducational class to its day program in fall 2012. Its mission is to prepare students for careers in the organizations of tomorrow. On average, more than 90 percent of the university's graduates are placed in jobs or graduate school within one year of graduation. For more information on WPU, visit www.peace.edu.
