The 2013-14 City Series at RLT continues with Tony nominee Charles Busch's The Divine Sister, an outrageous comic homage to nearly every Hollywood film involving nuns. Co-produced by Actors Comedy Lab and Raleigh Little Theatre, the production will be performed in the Gaddy-Goodwin Teaching Theatre and directed by Rod Rich. The Divine Sister contains adult language.

This is the first local production of the play, though Charles Busch is somewhat known to Triangle theatre audiences. His play, Psycho Beach Party, was produced by Theatre in the Park in summer 2013. Mr. Busch, who is also the playwright of Tony nominated The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, is an off-Broadway luminary, known for his original, witty work that often features himself cross-dressing in a lead role.

In this production, the lead role of Mother Superior will be played by Tony Hefner. Mr. Hefner was last seen at RLT in The Importance of Being Earnest. The cast includes Lexi Levy as Agnes, Alison Lawrence as Sister Acacius, Christine Rogers as MrS. Levinson and Timmy, Amy Bossi Nasiatka as Sister Walburga and Mrs. Macduffie, and Scott Nagel as Jeremy and Brother Venerius.

Tickets for all events at RLT can be purchased by calling the box office (919) 821-3111, Monday through Friday, noon-5 PM, or by visiting the theatre's website at www.raleighlittletheatre.org. The Divine Sister runs from today, January 17 - February 2, 2014. Thursday, Friday and Saturday showings are at 8 PM, and Sunday matinees are at 3 PM. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $16 for seniors/students. Raleigh Little Theatre is located at 301 Pogue St., Raleigh, N.C. 27607, adjacent to the Raleigh Rose Garden.
