Raleigh Little Theatre presents One Man, Two Guvnors, the area premiere of a comedy that ran successfully in New York and London and helped to launch James Corden's career. The play is written by Richard Bean, with songs by Grant Olding, and is based on Carlo Goldoni's Servant of Two Masters.

"While it's interesting and helpful to know that One Man Two Guvnors is an adaptation of a commedia d'ell arte classic, it's not necessary to enjoy the show. One Man Two Guvnors stands on its own, with humor that is recognizably modern and simultaneously primal. All the traditional elements are there - the word play, the confusion of identities and madcap misunderstandings, the slapstick, the improvisation and willful breaking of the fourth wall - and the clever thing is that it's set in a mythical 1960's Britain, where the Beatles were just starting their careers, a woman as Prime Minister was still a dream, and wallpaper patterns were truly awful," said Rod Rich, director.

While not technically a musical, one of the notable features of the production is the live skiffle band that appears throughout to provide musical interludes. For this production, the band will be led by Keith Lewis and features many of the same musicians who performed in RLT's hit production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in 2015.

The cast features a number of performers that Triangle theater goers know well. In the role of Francis, the protagonist, is Jesse R. Gephart, who frequently appears at RLT and will also direct the theater's upcoming production of Avenue Q (June 2017). Diana Cameron McQueen was last seen at RLT in Venus in Fur in 2015, also directed by Rod Rich, and plays Dolly, Francis' love interest. Kirsten Ehlert, seen at RLT in the acclaimed 2012 production of The Crucible, plays Rachel, who may or may not be who she appears to be. The standout cast includes Amy White (Pauline), Ron Mitchell (Charlie), Tony Hefner (Dangle), Gus Allen (Alan), Scott Nagel (Stanley), Warren Keys (Lloyd), C. Aaron Alderman (Gareth) and Dustin Britt (Alfie).

One Man, Two Guvnors is presented with support from Greene Resources. The production runs February 10 - 26 in the Cantey V. Sutton Theatre. Tickets for all events at RLT can be purchased by calling the box office (919)-821-3111, Monday through Friday, noon to 5:00 p.m., or by visiting the theatre's website at www.raleighlittletheatre.org.
