North Carolina Theatre is thrilled to announce their 2015/16 Season - bringing some of the very best from Broadway to Downtown Raleigh. This season includes the NC Theatre premiere production of Disney's and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins, along with Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's classic musical Into the Woods, eternal audience favorite Grease and the poignant and powerful play Wit by Margaret Edson. Rounding out the season are two tours presented in association with Broadway Series South; Dirty Dancing-The Classic Story on Stage and Ragtime.

Dirty Dancing-The Classic Story on Stage

September 8th-13-th, 2015

This record-breaking live theatre sensation brings the hit movie to life! Seen by millions across the globe, this worldwide smash-hit tells the classic story of Baby and Johnny, two fiercely independent young spirits from different worlds, who come together in what will be the most challenging and triumphant summer of their lives. Featuring hit songs including, "Hungry Eyes," "Hey Baby," "Do You Love Me," and the heart stopping (I've Had) The Time of My Life."

Into the Woods

October 20th-25th, 2015

Straight off the success of the hit motion picture, venture into the woods with us and learn what happens to your favorite fairytale characters before and after the words "happily ever after." The TONY Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. Once Upon a Time, a Baker and his wife embarked on a quest to break a witch's spell. On their journey "into the woods" they cross paths with Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Cinderella and a host of other hysterically flawed fairy tale characters. Stephen Sondheim's award-winning score casts a magical spell with such gems as "Giants in The Sky" and "No One Is Alone."

Ragtime

At the dawn of a new century, everything is changing...and anything is possible. The story focuses on upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant and a daring young Harlem musician- set in turn-of-the-century New York - all three united by their desire and belief in a brighter tomorrow. Their compelling stories are set to theatre's richest and most glorious Tony Award®-winning score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens. BLOOMBERG NEWS calls it "Explosive and thrilling! Grease

February 9th-14th, 2016

Get out your leather jackets, pull on your bobby socks and take a trip to the fabulous fifties with the original rock 'n roll high school musical, GREASE! Join the Rydell High School class of 1959 including Danny, Sandra and the rest of the gang sings their way through such classic hits as "Summer Nights" and many more favorite hits! Still one of the most popular musicals of all time!

Wit

April 29th-May 8th, 2016

Winner of the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Lucille Lortel Award for "Best Play" tells the story of Vivian Bearing, Ph.D., a renowned professor of English who has spent years studying and teaching the brilliant and difficult metaphysical sonnets of John Donne, who has been diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. Her approach to the study of Donne: aggressively probing, intensely rational. But during the course of her illness, Vivian comes to reassess her life and her work with a profundity and humor that are transformative both for her and the audience. NY TIMES calls it "[A] brutally human and beautifully layered new play...you feel both enlightened and, in a strange way, enormously comforted."
